Handling of medical waste

A part of the medical wastes generated in hospitals, doctors’ offices, sanatoriums, and care institutes is hazardous, or in fact special medical hazardous waste, such as used hypodermic needles, expired medicines, mercury, laboratory chemicals, X-ray images, and developer and activator solutions. The safe collection (special and on-site collection points), storage, and transport of these health hazardous wastes require special germ and moisture resistant sealable containers, storage in a hazardous waste storage box, and vehicles that comply with ADR requirements; they are disposed of by sterilization or incineration.
